It seems that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has seen its final significant update, according to the latest patch notes. Recently, EA announced the game had attracted 1.5 million players, which falls short of their expectations by half. As a result, they’ve decided to halt post-launch support just three months after release.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Update 5 Patch Notes
Bioware kicked off the notes for Update 5 by stating that they’ll now only address critical bugs and issues as needed. This statement sparked chatter that this could very well be the last major update.
Their message in the patch notes conveyed, “We were delighted with the game’s stability right from launch, and we hope you’ve appreciated our Quality of Life patches since then. Now that the game is stable, we’ll be on the lookout for any game-breaking bugs should they appear.”
Although they haven’t outright said it, this definitely gives off final update vibes.
Here’s the rundown of the patch notes:
Quality of Life Changes:
- Side quests now include recommended levels, catering to players who might engage with them at much lower levels.
Bug Fixes:
- Resolved an issue where Rook could only flirt with Lucanis through a particular conversation sequence.
- Addressed a trigger problem with the "Regrets of The Dread Wolf" quest that caused Rook to hit an invisible wall at the Crossroads.
- Fixed a blocking issue with a puzzle in the Converged City section of the Crossroads.
- Corrected a glitch with the “Imperium’s Resolve” armor, which was dealing negative damage instead of zero fire, cold, necrotic, and electric damage.
- Tackled excessive clipping on Taash’s “Rivain’s Legacy” armor.
- Fixed a problem that kept some Rooks from altering the runes on their lyrium dagger.
- Resolved an issue with the Medium Armor Mastery skill for Warriors.
- Amended a spot on Rivain’s beach where Rook could become trapped in a continuous drowning loop, with no help from companions.
- Fixed a typo on a note that Rook can find in Dock Town.
- Enhanced the quality of photo mode screenshots, which was noticeably poorer when HDR was enabled.
- Corrected an issue showing the location of photo mode screenshots on screen.
- Fixed an alarming flickering rate of fireflies in the opening Crossroads area when using specific settings.
- Addressed a lighting issue during one of the team conversations at the Lighthouse.
- Solved a problem in the Mirror of Transformation that restricted players from zooming in and out using the mouse scroll wheel.
- Fixed the Objective Marker Visibility issue that wasn’t updating when players changed the exploration preset along with other Exploration sub-category options.
- Made some changes to the game credits.
So, it appears Bioware is shifting gears, focusing only on pressing bug fixes from here on out. While it’s a shame for dedicated fans hoping for more content, it’s good to see the game being polished and stable as it reaches its next phase.
