Virtuix recently unveiled a new app for their Omni One VR treadmill that promises to revolutionize virtual tourism. This innovative app, set to launch on March 6th, allows users to virtually stroll through some of the planet’s most captivating locations, combining immersive video with the sensation of real-world walking.
Produced by Virtuix Studios, Treks is priced at $30 and will be accessible exclusively through the Omni One Game Store. At its debut, the app will feature four breathtaking destinations:
- Grand Canyon: Feel the awe as you traverse the trails and overlook the stunning cliffs of this renowned natural marvel.
- Niagara Falls: Experience the raw power of the falls from both the American and Canadian perspectives.
- New York City: Explore iconic landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia: Immerse yourself in history at Fort Masmak and marvel at the magnificent Al Rajhi Mosque.
Looking forward, Virtuix Studios plans to expand this lineup with additional locations as downloadable content (DLC), which will feature more landmarks, historical sites, and natural wonders. Remarkably, an hour spent walking in Treks is said to burn around 500 calories.
“With TREKS, you’re not just observing these destinations—you’re physically exploring them,” explains Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix. “It offers a fantastic means of staying active while virtually visiting some of the most well-known spots on Earth. Fitness and adventure are seamlessly combined, bringing a fresh perspective to your VR experiences.”
The Omni One, retailing at $3,495, includes the advanced VR treadmill alongside a customized Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This headset is versatile, supporting native apps through its built-in chipset and offering both wired and wireless connections to a VR-ready PC.
This exciting update comes on the heels of last month’s announcement that Omni One will now support over 55 different titles, including popular games like Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius.
Moreover, Omni One’s comprehensive system is also compatible with SteamVR games. Thanks to the Omni Connect PC Driver, users can create personalized settings and bindings, making it possible to enjoy games not specifically tailored for this unique walking experience.
