Japanese developer Tango Gameworks is seriously contemplating a sequel to their 2023 hit, Hi-Fi Rush. In a conversation with IGN, the studio’s head, Colin Mack, admitted they’re “considering” the idea, though he stopped short of confirming any specific plans. Mack explained, “We’re positively looking at the idea of a sequel, but we haven’t reached the point where we can definitively say, ‘This is what’s next.’”
Adding to the conversation, Hi-Fi Rush’s director, John Johanas, shared that many team members have a real affection for the game. “Plenty of our staff are passionate about Hi-Fi Rush, so we feel like we’ve got a range of possibilities. Right now, we’re in the phase of weighing different opportunities.”
On another note, project manager Kazuaki Egashira highlighted that a key part of Tango’s identity is its drive to craft fresh experiences. They remarked, “Hi-Fi Rush gained traction as a new IP, but if it never evolved, it would eventually lose its edge. Tango Gameworks stands for embracing new challenges. I hope we can keep evolving, focusing on the developers’ creativity without losing our enthusiasm.”
