The main storyline of Space Marine 2 is one you can breeze through fairly quickly, but don’t be fooled into thinking that’s all there is. Saber Interactive has been hard at work keeping the game fresh and exciting, regularly introducing new operations and multiplayer content. Just recently, on Thursday, they rolled out the third major update known as Datavault. This update is packed with goodies: a brand-new chamber on the battle barge, loads of new cosmetics, a fresh PvP map, and the fearsome Tyranid Biovore to take on.
In the game, you step into the boots of Commander Titus during the primary campaign. If you’re looking for more, you can dive into supplementary Operations missions. These side quests aren’t essential for completing the main story, but they do provide fascinating context about how certain tactical maneuvers are executed. As you wait to jump into Operations or PvP, you can hang out on the Ultramarine battle barge. And now, thanks to the Datavault, there’s a whole new room to explore. Here, Tech-Priests are busy keeping tabs on various enemies, and you can take on challenges to collect data. Gather enough of this research data and you’ll be rewarded with some seriously cool power armor pieces and weapon skins.
The Datavault update also introduces the Biovore into Operations, a monstrous Tyranid unit that’s both terrifying and impressive. This creature, with its crab-like limbs and a massive organic cannon perched on its back, is a nod to its equally cool model on the tabletop. PvP fans aren’t left out either, as there’s a new map themed after a Necron tomb, ripe for exploration and battle.
Additionally, the update brings a new season pass brimming with Raven Guard and Salamander armor sets, a challenging Absolute difficulty mode, numerous quality-of-life enhancements, and several balance adjustments to improve gameplay.
