Acer has just rolled out a set of six new graphics card models from their Radeon RX 9070 series. These include both base and overclocked versions, boasting impressive boost clock speeds of up to 3.1 GHz.
Acer Introduces the BiFrost and Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 Models
Acer, although not the most frequent player in the AMD graphics card scene, has definitely made a splash this time. The company has launched a fresh series of GPUs based on the RDNA 4 architecture, incorporating the latest BiFrost and Nitro editions. In total, they’ve introduced six models, with three variations for each GPU category.
In this lineup, there are two diverse Nitro editions designed for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070, along with one BiFrost edition for each GPU variant. The BiFrost models are at the forefront when it comes to design and cooling, whereas the Nitro versions cater to a broader audience while still delivering robust specs.
Let’s dive into the BiFrost series first. The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB stands out with its advanced triple-fan cooling system wrapped in an attractive shroud featuring sleek silver accents around the central fan. This setup utilizes FrostBlade 4.0 fans which spin in opposite directions to improve cooling performance. At about 295 mm long and consuming 2.5 slots, it’s factory-boosted to an impressive 3.1 GHz, ready to push gaming to its limits.
The BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB shares a similar design but opts for two 8-pin power connectors compared to the XT’s three. Interestingly, both models share a 340W power rating, even though the base RX 9070 typically consumes less energy. While the two 8-pin connectors suffice for the 340W demand when combined with the PCI-E x16 slot, they don’t quite leave room for the overclocked performance of the RX 9070 XT OC.
Switching gears to the Nitro series, this line delivers both overclocked (OC) and standard models for the RX 9070 card family. The Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC flaunts a similar triple-fan setup and 2.5-slot dimension to its BiFrost cousin. It hits the same peak of 3.1 GHz in boost mode, comes with three 8-pin connectors, and features a thermal design power (TDP) of 340W. Meanwhile, the non-OC version aims for a 304W rating, maintaining all three 8-pin slots but featuring a boost limit of 2970 MHz and game mode frequency of up to 2.4 GHz.
As for the regular Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 variants, these run at boost speeds of up to 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz respectively. Power consumption is dialed back a bit, with the OC model at 245W and the non-OC one at 220W, though the external look remains consistent.
Pricing remains mostly under wraps, except for the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB, which comes with a hefty price tag of $829.99. Given that, the BiFrost edition will likely cost even more. Acer hasn’t yet confirmed the availability dates for most cards, but the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is scheduled to hit shelves in the US by April.
