In response to the current tough economic conditions characterized by high inflation and volatile exchange rates, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has decided to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PlayStation 5 console in certain markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), as well as in Australia and New Zealand.
Starting April 14, here’s how the new pricing for the PS5 will look:
In Europe, the PS5 Digital Edition will be priced at €499.99. No changes have been made to the price of the standard PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive. In the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition is set at £429.99, with the standard PS5 price remaining stable. Over in Australia, the standard PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc is now AUD $829.95, while the PS5 Digital Edition is AUD $749.95. For those in New Zealand, the standard PS5 comes in at NZD $949.95, and the PS5 Digital Edition will be NZD $859.95.
Meanwhile, the prices for the PS5 Pro haven’t been altered.
On a positive note, starting April 14, there will be a price cut for the PS5 Disc Drive. In Europe, it will be €79.99, in the UK £69.99, in Australia AUD $124.95, and in New Zealand NZD $139.95.
