Just as soon as it seemed Red Dead Redemption 2 had settled back into the cozy confines of PS Plus, it’s already gearing up for another exit. This blockbuster open-world Western had many of us promising to finally wrap up those epic storylines, yet once again, it’s set to depart from the PlayStation subscription in October, taking a handful of great titles along with it.
If you’ve recently browsed the “Last Chance” section of the PSN store on your PS5 or PS4, you might have noticed an updated list naming the games that will soon be dropped from the PS Plus Extra library. To the dismay of many fans, Red Dead Redemption 2, which only rejoined the lineup this past May, is on the way out. Disappointingly, so is Kingdom Hearts. I just introduced the first game to my kids, and now it’s slipping away. Here’s a roundup of the 16 titles waving goodbye this October:
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4)
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition (PS4 | PS5)
- Teardown (PS5)
- Chorus (PS4 | PS5)
- Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (PS4)
- What Remains of Edith Finch (PS4 | PS5)
- Overcooked! 2 (PS4)
- Superliminal (PS4 | PS5)
- Blasphemous (PS4)
- Moving Out (PS4)
- Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX (PS4)
- Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (PS4)
- Kingdom Hearts III (PS4)
- Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory (PS4)
- Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. Maxiboost On (PS4)
- Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising (PS4 | PS5)
- The Sims 4 City Living [DLC]
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas also stands out among the departures. Blasphemous and What Remains of Edith Finch have received critical acclaim, while Teardown offers unexpected enjoyment as a voxel-based destruction simulator. Red Dead Redemption 2’s stint this time was brief, lasting just half a year. Meanwhile, losing the Kingdom Hearts series marks the latest blow as Square Enix RPGs bow out from PS Plus.
Gamers have gotten pretty adept at spotting patterns in when games make their PS Plus exits. With deals often signed for six, 12, or 18-month durations, savvy fans have speculated that titles like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Humanity might also leave the service soon. Luckily, these titles appear safe for now. If you haven’t yet explored them, consider this your reminder to dive in before the next shake-up!
