OpenAI has recently unveiled a new feature for ChatGPT that’s sure to catch the attention of those who love efficiency: it’s called Tasks, and it’s currently in beta. As the name implies, this addition allows the AI to handle several chores for you, making life just a little bit easier.
Here’s what OpenAI has to say about it: “Tasks is a new way to ask ChatGPT to do things for you at a future time. Whether it’s one-time reminders or recurring actions, tell ChatGPT what you need and when—from a weekly news briefing to daily weather updates—you can schedule it ahead of time, and ChatGPT will follow up.”
If you’re interested in using this feature, you’ll first need to choose the 4o with scheduled tasks option in the model picker. Once that’s set, you interact with the chatbot just like before. Simply tell it what you want—and when. ChatGPT will then set up the task. You can access these tasks straight from your chats or by going to the tasks section in the profile menu. A neat aspect of this feature is its ability to suggest tasks based on your conversation, so it can recommend tasks even if you haven’t explicitly asked for them.
Be aware, though, that this feature is reserved for those using the paid versions of ChatGPT, such as Plus, Team, and Pro. It’s rolling out globally and will be available on desktop, web, and mobile. Don’t worry—users will get push notifications when it’s available.
Even though you can access the tasks feature on the web, OpenAI hasn’t announced any changes to this setup yet. Since Tasks is still in beta, users are currently limited to having ten active tasks at once.
