John Gonzalez, well-known for his role as the lead writer of Fallout: New Vegas, is making his return to Obsidian Entertainment. This exciting news comes from a recent LinkedIn post by Gonzalez himself, though he made it clear that he won’t be diving into a project for Fallout: New Vegas 2.
Gonzalez’s previous stint at Obsidian spanned from 2008 to 2011, following a significant period at Ubisoft’s Shanghai branch. After departing from the team behind New Vegas, Gonzalez transitioned to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions. There, he spent two and a half years honing the narrative of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, working as the lead narrative designer. His journey in game development continued at Guerrilla Games in the Netherlands, where he played a key role in shaping the story of Horizon: Zero Dawn as its narrative director. Before this recent return to Obsidian, Gonzalez spent nearly three years at Smilegate in Barcelona, further refining his craft.
Outside of his impressive games development career, Gonzalez is also venturing into the literary world. He is set to release a novel titled God Mode: Single Player, which is anticipated to hit the shelves in 2025.
