One of the year’s major gaming stories continues to evolve, with Bethesda Game Studios announcing via Bluesky that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has already captivated 4 million players.
“We’re incredibly thankful to the over 4 million adventurers exploring Cyrodiil with Oblivion Remastered. Thank you!” shared the studio in a heartfelt social media post.
The much-anticipated Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered made its official debut on Tuesday. Following nearly two years of speculation and leaks, the game launched unexpectedly on digital storefronts, allowing eager fans to dive in immediately.
On the development front, Virtuos took the lead on the project, with Bethesda Game Studios offering support. The game showcases impressive new visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5 and features fresh voice recordings, while the original Gamebryo engine stays mostly intact, preserving the essence of the 2006 classic.
It’s important to note that hitting 4 million players doesn’t equate to 4 million copies sold. With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, subscribers can explore new titles at no additional cost upon release.
Nevertheless, reaching this milestone is significant, and it’ll be fascinating to see the player base grow further. This mirrors the success of another Bethesda-published game, MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which also hit 4 million players after launching on Xbox and PC in December 2024.
Currently, most players seem to be enjoying their experience, despite PC Game Pass users awaiting an official patch after an update disabled DLSS upscaling in their version.
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (via Steam and the Xbox app), and PlayStation 5. For a deeper dive into the various editions of Oblivion Remastered, check out my comprehensive guide.
