Recent updates have indicated that the board partners have been informed about a delay in the launch of the RTX 5060 series GPUs. What was initially expected hasn’t gone as planned, and now the GPUs are set to hit the market a few weeks later.
Having anticipated the release of the GeForce RTX 5070, enthusiasts have now been told of a delay affecting the RTX 5060 series. Prior whispers suggested a March release with sales kicking off in April, but the latest reports suggest we’ll have to wait a bit longer.
While exact reasons remain speculative, an internal communication from NVIDIA, acknowledged by Board Channels, suggests that this news is reaching all of NVIDIA’s board partners. Officially, NVIDIA hasn’t commented on the 5060’s release, but these leaks could prove to be on the mark. Previously, bugs and supply chain hiccups were rumored culprits for the delay, but again, nothing’s been confirmed by NVIDIA so far.
One insider note from Board Channels states: NVIDIA sent an internal email to all AIC partners regarding the release of the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 series products, marking a delay. The estimate is now for the RTX 5060 Ti to hit the market by mid-April, while the RTX 5060 is eyed for a mid-May release. No official date has been set in stone, pending further notification from NVIDIA.
Currently, the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is slated for a ‘mid-April’ launch, with the 5060 following in ‘mid-May’. It’s anticipated that both versions of the 5060 Ti will be introduced simultaneously. Precise launch dates for these GPUs remain unconfirmed, even among NVIDIA’s own board partners.
In an interesting twist, this delay might sync the RTX 5060 series release with AMD’s RX 9060 lineup. The RX 9060 series, bringing us the RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 variants in both 8 GB and 16 GB, could be in direct rivalry with the 8 GB and 16 GB offerings from the RTX 5060 Ti series. Although the RX 9060’s launch date is still up in the air, speculation points to a debut in the second quarter.
The new GeForce RTX 5060 Ti aspires to succeed the RTX 4060 Ti, boasting 4608 CUDA Cores, either 8 or 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and a TDP of 180W. Meanwhile, the RTX 5060 is set to step in for the RTX 4060, equipped with 3840 CUDA Cores and 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM with 150W TDP. There’s been chatter about a 12 GB VRAM version of the RTX 5060 from recent leaks, yet, this remains unconfirmed. If realized, it could potentially give NVIDIA an edge over AMD’s RX 9060, which at this moment, is only expected to feature an 8 GB version.
