Last week slipped by with a few surprises in the gaming scene. In North America, we saw a surprising +19 jump in game releases, hitting a total of 65 new games and skyrocketing past 2,500 releases for the year. Amidst all those, let’s not forget the arrival of the 3DS gem, Ironfall Invasion—stay tuned for John’s review on that one. The Archives also brought us the elusive Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton.
So, here we are at the outset of what I call Hell Months at my workplace, a period so demanding that the only break I got in seven years involved an eleven-day hospital stay. Needless to say, I’m not in the best of moods.
The highlight this week is Hironobu Sakaguchi’s Fantasian Neo Dimension, a game transitioning from its Apple Arcade exclusivity to consoles. Adding to the mix, we have Fitness Boxing 3, Roller Coaster Tycoon with revamped controls, and Diesel Legacy: The Brazen Age, a fighter that’s been making the rounds at various showcases. And don’t forget to keep an eye out for AntonBlast, though we’re still guessing on the price for that one.
On the more niche side of releases, the EggConsole is rolling out Riglas, a side-scrolling RPG reminiscent of the classic Ys III, and it’s supposedly pretty user-friendly even without a grasp of Japanese. Meanwhile, something curious is brewing with the first licensed console game inspired by MasterChef. Keeping it cheeky like Gordon Ramsay might, it appears this could be a culinary adventure you might not want to miss.
