Capcom has recently made an exciting announcement for Monster Hunter fans. They’re bringing their eagerly awaited action RPG, Monster Hunter Wilds, to the table with some extra flair. The game is set to launch on February 28, 2025, and will come ready to take advantage of the enhanced capabilities of the PS5 Pro right from the start. While Capcom hasn’t gone into specifics about these enhancements, they have given us a sneak peek at the graphics and resolution we can expect.
With this, Monster Hunter Wilds is stepping into a growing league of games optimized for the PS5 Pro. In a pre-launch update aimed at the community, Capcom revealed that the standard PS5 edition will come with two main modes: ‘Prioritize Graphics’ and ‘Prioritize Framerate.’ If you go for the graphics option, you’ll experience resolutions of 3840 x 2160 or 3072 x 1728, all at a smooth 30 frames per second. On the other hand, choosing the framerate focus will maintain a resolution of 3840 x 2160 or 1920 x 1080 but at an optimized 60 frames per second.
Recently, over on social media platform X, Capcom assured players that they have “addressed rendering issues from the Open Beta Test and are steadily improving the game for launch.” This dedication to enhancing performance is echoed in a tweet showcasing a work-in-progress glimpse of the “Prioritize Performance” mode running on a PS5, offering players a peek into the enhancements being made as the launch date approaches.
The anticipation has been slightly tempered by performance concerns following the game’s open beta phase. The PC version, in particular, suffered from significant issues. Capcom’s past experience with Dragon’s Dogma 2—which faced similar PS5 performance hurdles—has taught them valuable lessons. Thankfully, for Monster Hunter Wilds, the team is hard at work on the PS5 Pro patch well before the release, giving them the chance to iron out any kinks and deliver a polished experience right from launch day.
