Marvel Rivals has often been likened to Overwatch by gamers, but the folks over at NetEase Games have an interesting twist to share: Marvel Rivals is channeling some Splatoon vibes, too. Next week, they’re rolling out a new limited-time mode called Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival. This update is bound to give players a playful peek into an experience reminiscent of Nintendo’s lively, family-friendly shooter.
Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival is a fresh addition to Marvel Rivals’ upcoming Winter Celebration event, set to launch on December 20. In this mode, it’s all about Jeff, all the time—two teams of four face off, trying to coat a snowy map in their team’s distinctive color in a game mode called Jeff’s Joyful Splash. Instead of the usual Inklings or Octolings, you’ll get the chance to play as the charming Jeff the Land Shark, splattering and spraying festive colors to dominate.
While this takes place in Marvel Rivals, expect an array of event-themed costumes to make an appearance. Imagine Jeff in a cute winter coat and earmuffs, Groot dolled up like a Christmas tree, and Magik and Rocket Raccoon dressed for some serious skiing action. And, to top it all off, Venom is bringing some stunningly iced cakes for that perfect holiday twist.
Moreover, Marvel and NetEase Games have hinted at “a special winter greeting card with gifts from Jeff” along with “a few surprises” during the Winter Celebration event. So be sure to dive into the game next week to uncover what delightful digital gifts your favorite land shark has to offer under Groot’s watchful eye.
For those eager to join in the fun, Marvel Rivals is free to play and available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
