When it comes to gaming, NetEase Games seemed to have heard the players’ call for role lock in Marvel Rivals—or at least, there’s a light at the end of that tunnel. Instead of transforming the Overwatch-style queue and balance, they’re introducing a fresh gaming mode. It’s called Clone Rumble, and it spices things up by limiting each team to just two heroes. If you’ve ever wanted to orchestrate a mirrored match on purpose, now’s your golden opportunity.
The mechanics of Clone Rumble aren’t complicated. Teams get to vote on a hero to include in their match, and once the votes are in, players can choose from the two selected heroes. Imagine the chaos of a team full of Groot’s protective barriers, Luna Snow’s ultimate attacks, or Adam Warlock’s life-saving revivals. It’s going to be hectic, that’s for sure, and deciphering what’s happening mid-battle might require superhero vision.
Forget everything you know about the traditional team setups in Marvel Rivals. In this mode, both sides have the liberty to pile up skills and ultimate abilities, creating super-synergies that might not be exactly fair. Still, the idea of surrounding opponents with a barrage of Scarlet Witch’s abilities doesn’t sound half-bad to me.
But wait, there’s more! Alongside Clone Rumble, there’s a board game to explore with tons of rewards, including nameplates, emotes, sprays, and units—320 to be precise. For those looking to earn extra currency for the newest Marvel Rivals skin, don’t miss out on the challenges this event offers. Notably, Black Widow gets decked out in an old western gunslinger outfit, a throwback to her 1872 comic arc where she ties the knot with Bucky Barnes. Amid the mayhem, this is just another alluring reason to dive in.
NetEase Games announced that Clone Rumble kicks off on Friday, March 7. However, how long this mode will be available remains a mystery.
