This week, Helldivers 2 might not have delivered the massive update some were eagerly anticipating, but the latest mission certainly comes with high stakes in the Galactic War. If you’ve had enough of that ominous purple Meridian death sphere consuming planets, now’s your chance to put a stop to it.
So far, this death ball has devoured three worlds—Moradesh, Angel’s Venture, and most recently, Ivis. Understandably, players are either in mourning or just plain tired of this storyline—especially those veteran divers. It’s about time we cut off its path toward Super Earth.
Hot on the heels of a triumph on Wezen, where divers established an Exosuit Support Bay on the Democracy Space Station—a game-changer reducing exosuit cooldowns by 35%—we’re diving into a new major operation.
The latest mission update from Fenrir III’s Center of Science reads, “Our astrophysicists are closing in on the third and final phase to halt the Meridian Singularity. However, progressing further into the theoretical domain of Dark Energy manipulation demands an enormous amount of E-710 for experimentation.”
High Command isn’t messing around. They’ve green-lit another infiltration of the Gloom—a treacherous but E-710-rich territory—to push our technology far enough to close the Meridian Wormhole for good. If there’s an E-710 surplus, it could even be used to boost commerce, benefiting everyone.
But to free planet Nivel 43, gather E-710, and put a stop to the death ball, divers must once again face the formidable “Gloom-specific terminid strains.” It’s time to tackle these beasts yet again.
On the bright side, the community seems excited about returning to the Gloom. Over on the game’s subreddit, someone’s already posted, “THERES ANOTHER GLOOM EXPEDITION,” bringing a wave of enthusiasm from players eager to wreak havoc on terminids, even though they’ve had their fill of battling automatons and illuminates lately.
