A new PS5 racing game has just hit the market with a fantastic offer for gamers: a free trial that lets you explore every nook and cranny without any cost. Nacon, the publisher behind Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, has announced that from today through Tuesday, December 31, players can jump into the driver’s seat without any restrictions on what they can experience. Remember, an online adventure does require a PS Plus subscription.
Right now, this trial run is solely for PS5 users. You can snag it quickly on the PS Store. While Nacon hinted at extending this offer to other platforms, they haven’t shared any specifics just yet.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown made its debut in September 2024. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been a hit with everybody, scoring just 55 out of 100 on Metacritic for its PS5 version. Over at OpenCritic, only a small 7% of reviewers give it the thumbs up. The game has taken some knocks, particularly for its lackluster visuals and rough patches, which pale in comparison to its competitors. While it boasts the ‘PS5 Pro enhanced’ tag, the actual improvements are somewhat unclear.
Of course, the best way to make up your mind is to try it yourself on a PS5 or PS5 Pro. Just a heads-up: Nacon hasn’t clarified if any progress from the trial will carry over to the full game, and there’s no information on this feature on the PS Store page for the trial version either.
