Elden Ring, the action-packed RPG that has captivated gamers worldwide, has surpassed 28.6 million copies in sales. This impressive milestone was shared by its publisher, Bandai Namco, in tandem with the buzz surrounding their latest announcement—a multiplayer-themed spin-off titled Nightreign, which was unveiled at The Game Awards last week. The sales figures reflect numbers through the end of September.
Back in June, Bandai Namco reported that Elden Ring had already raced past the 25 million copies mark. Since then, it’s managed to sell an additional 3.6 million copies. This surge is likely thanks to a mix of enticing discounts and the release of the well-received Shadow of the Erdtree expansion that dropped over the summer.
What’s truly remarkable, as noted by industry analyst Daniel Ahmad from Niko Partners on Twitter, is that Elden Ring’s success has outdone the entire Dark Souls series in terms of sales. Since its inception in 2011, the beloved Dark Souls franchise has collectively sold 27 million copies. Elden Ring standing solo with higher numbers is quite the feat!
