It looks like EA and Maxis have a treat lined up for fans of the classic Sims games. In celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary, they’re bringing back the first two Sims games, and you can actually grab them starting today.
Rumors had been swirling that EA would release these games for digital download on PCs by the end of January. Well, that’s exactly what they’ve done, timing it just right for January 31, which is quite a way to wrap up the week.
You can find these re-releases on platforms like the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. Dubbed “The Sims: Legacy Collection” and “The Sims 2: Legacy Collection,” they’re also available together in the special “Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.”
In their announcement, EA expressed their excitement about this nostalgic release. They stated, “To celebrate our legacy and honor the incredible fans that have been with us along the way, we’re re-releasing two fan-favorite titles that contain familiar neighborhoods and beloved characters – such as the sneaky burglar, unpredictable genie, and Sunny the Tragic Clown – that started it all. Rediscover the nostalgia and magic of the classics that welcomed so many of you into our amazing community.”
Now, let’s talk about what these will cost you. The bundle price is set at $39.99. If you’re just looking for The Sims: Legacy Collection, that will be $19.99, and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is priced at $29.99. Each game comes with most of the original expansion packs. However, notably absent is The Sims 2’s IKEA Home Stuff pack.
That said, you still get two holiday-themed packs and the H&M Fashion Stuff pack, keeping the corporate collaboration spirit alive. Plus, The Sims 4’s Throwback Fit Kit and Grunge Revival Kit are bundled in too, adding value if you haven’t picked those up yet.
So, instead of lounging in the quirky “meme jacuzzi” on EA’s promotional Sims Y2K website, maybe take a moment to dry off and dive into these nostalgic re-releases. They just might be the trip down memory lane you didn’t know you needed!
