The Boston-based developer, The Molasses Flood, has officially joined forces with the Polish gaming powerhouse, CD Projekt Red. This development was shared on the studio’s website, highlighting that as of April 1st, The Molasses Flood no longer operates independently, having been integrated into the company known for Cyberpunk 2077. They assured fans that this merger won’t impact their previous titles, such as The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, which were developed before their acquisition by CD Projekt in 2021. Currently, the team is focused on Project Sirius, an exciting multiplayer game within The Witcher universe.
In tandem with this announcement, it was revealed that Damian Isla, the founder of The Molasses Flood, has decided to step away from the studio. On LinkedIn, he shared his thoughts: “This is undoubtedly a significant change,” he wrote. “The Molasses Flood has been a crucial chapter in my life for over a decade, and it’s been incredibly fulfilling to help build something that endured as long as we did, especially in a market that’s often challenging for smaller teams. We’ve created some beautiful, memorable, and quirky projects, and I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most kind-hearted, talented individuals in the industry.”
