Bungie’s ‘Marathon’ Set for September Release on Xbox, Closed Alpha Launching This Month

Today, Bungie unveiled a fresh glimpse into the world of its new extraction shooter, Marathon. Set to launch on the Xbox Series X and Series S, this intriguing title will hit the shelves on September 23rd, 2025.

In the heart of Marathon, you’ll embody a Runner, each equipped with distinct cybernetic abilities. Joining forces with up to two other players, your mission involves tackling hostile AI security and rival teams in a high-stakes battle. Along the way, you’ll collect various armaments, implants, and gear. The best part? Survive, and your acquisitions are treasures for future escapades.

In essence, you and your team will dive into a designated zone, striving to gather as much loot as possible and escape unscathed. The path is fraught with challenges from AI defenders and other player squads. For those who love a solo challenge, the game offers the option to go at it alone, taking on teams single-handedly and claiming the loot all for yourself.

Though the full release is a while off, there’s a chance to dive into the action sooner. A Closed Alpha is slated to begin on April 23rd, and you can sign up via the official Marathon Discord server.
