Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a game where players can easily lose themselves for hours exploring the vast landscapes of central Japan. With the latest update, their journeys just became a bit more relaxed. Thanks to a feature making a comeback, you can now take a break during those long rides across the countryside.
Rolled out on Tuesday morning across all platforms, the 1.0.2 update fine-tunes the “pathfinder” function for your character’s horse. This means your trusty steed will automatically stick to roads, using the game’s built-in navigation system to lead characters like Naoe or Yasuke to their destinations. Fans of Assassin’s Creed might remember this handy feature from past titles like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, making its initial absence in Shadows somewhat surprising. Fortunately, the auto-follow is now set as the default, though you still have the option to take manual control if you prefer.
In another change aimed at enhancing your gaming experience, the patch ensures the in-game GPS line won’t show up while snapping pictures in the visually captivating photo mode. Moreover, horse speeds have also been boosted when in city environments.
One of the most welcomed updates for players is a new quality-of-life feature: batch selling or dismantling of loot. This means you can now choose multiple items at once in the shop or Forge screen to offload them quickly. Additionally, Ubisoft Québec has lifted the frame rate cap in the Hideout, allowing for smoother gameplay beyond 30 frames per second. For those playing on PlayStation 5 Pro, there’s also support for Sony’s Spectral Super Resolution, enhancing image quality significantly.
The update brings more flexibility to skill customization. Now, players can reset individual Mastery nodes within the skill trees of Naoe and Yasuke. Previously, you could only reset entire categories like Tools or Shinobi, but now editing can be done node by node. Navigating the menus is also easier thanks to a new shortcut: holding the Options/Menu button swiftly brings up the game’s well-crafted objective board.
Interestingly, the update leaves the potent legendary tanto, the Igan Sunset, unchanged. This weapon, with its incredible perk, reportedly allows Naoe to seamlessly move between enemies until they’re eliminated, as noted by our very own Tyler Colp.
