Assassin’s Creed Shadows has made quite an entrance, drawing in a huge player base and receiving positive feedback, despite initial doubts due to its repeated delays.
Recently, the Ubisoft team behind Shadows took to Reddit to express their gratitude towards fans for sharing their thoughts on the game. Unlike the usual heated discussions surrounding it over the past year, these posts offered a breath of fresh air. Concerns about the depiction of Japanese culture raised by Japanese commentators got mixed responses alongside some unwelcome opinions from those against the concept of a black samurai. Ubisoft’s trajectory has been somewhat uncertain lately.
Anyway, it seems that the Shadows team has genuinely appreciated the game’s subreddit as a haven to gauge player sentiment after its launch. “Over the weekend, many of us on the Dev Team spent time reading your reactions across the Assassin’s Creed subreddit,” reads a heartfelt message from the Shadows developers. “We just want to express our thanks. The overwhelming love and positivity have been truly uplifting.”
The developers continued, “Seeing your enthusiasm, thoughtful reactions, and joy is incredibly rewarding. After years of dedication, nothing compares to witnessing the community connecting with our creation. Although we don’t reply directly, rest assured, we’re listening. The entire Dev Team has been absorbing your posts — whether it’s celebrations, suggestions, or theories — and it’s inspiring. It drives us forward and helps us to keep improving.”
“Thanks for being part of this journey with us. This is just the beginning for Shadows, and we’re excited to watch the game evolve with your support,” they added.
Ending their message, and referring to a particular fan post, the devs closed with a playful quote: “Where other men blindly follow the truth, remember… nothing is true.” If it rings a bell, you must be a dedicated fan of the series. It’s a line from the actual creed in Assassin’s Creed, mentioned to Ezio in AC2 before a painful lesson involving his finger.
For those eager to have their feedback addressed sooner, various mods are already introducing modifications and enhancements since the release, so it’s worth exploring those while you wait.
