When miHoYo announced the Sumeru update for Genshin Impact, they also unveiled their plans for gradually releasing Teyvat’s remaining regions. While the game initially introduced us to the seven nations and their elemental powers, miHoYo has now set a clear schedule for launching the yet-to-be-released territories.
As of now, six nations are available for players to explore: Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, and Natlan. The developers have shared their ambition to roll out all seven regions in the coming years, suggesting a pattern of releasing one new region each year. This timeline forecasts the arrival of Snezhnaya in 2025. There are whispers and in-game hints about other regions like Khaenri’ah making an appearance, but these remain unconfirmed officially.
Updated on October 20, 2025, by Michael Christopher: With another year passing, Natlan has officially been launched in the game, offering players a deep dive into its fiery landscapes, tribal cultures, and the looming Abyssal threat that once hung over it. Snezhnaya is now the sole remaining nation to anticipate from the original lineup, but in this update, we also draw attention to the enigmatic Nod-Krai. We’ve replaced information about Natlan with fresh insights about the Cryo nation and the mysterious Nod-Krai. For anyone craving a full breakdown of Natlan’s adventure, head over to our dedicated article.
Spoiler Alert: Proceed with caution — spoilers are ahead!
Nod-Krai
From the conclusion of Natlan’s Archon Quest to a conversation with a young girl named Helka and insights from Liben, it’s becoming clear that adventurers will soon traverse Nod-Krai before reaching Snezhnaya. Mentioned during an official livestream, this region might be the next focus after Natlan.
Despite being part of Snezhnaya, Nod-Krai operates with a sense of autonomy, appearing to be ruled by the "Voynich Guild." A Fatui base camp resides here, and there’s talk of Il Dottore conducting mysterious experiments within its bounds. Politically, Nod-Krai’s link to Snezhnaya remains foggy.
Here’s a quick overview of what to expect from Nod-Krai:
- It’s labeled as a crime-ridden and perilous area, with its risks scaling up recently.
- The landscape is notably "hostile."
- Its inhabitants possess unique abilities that seem to predate Teyvat’s main seven elements.
- The "Frostmoon Scions," a group venerated or feared in the past, worship a moon deity and reside in its forests, largely avoiding society.
- There are signs of abandoned large-scale developments and remnants of scrap metal are scattered around.
- The Fatui are allegedly transporting substantial construction materials, possibly tied to Dottore’s projects.
- Northern Nod-Krai experiences issues tied to the Abyss.
- Once thriving, a past civilization left lingering echoes amid ruins.
- A character named Katya frequently surfaces in Helka’s notes, offering pivotal advice and potentially valuable insights to explorers venturing Spooky Nashagrod.
Though we’re currently on Version 5.4, there’s still time until Nod-Krai’s scheduled debut. Whether it’s a substantial segment on its own or a smaller part of the broader Snezhnayan odyssey remains to be seen.
Snezhnaya
Despite being the finale among the playable regions, Snezhnaya’s presence is deeply felt, intricately woven into the core storyline of Genshin Impact.
Snezhnaya pays homage to the Cryo Archon, Tsaritsa, a deity described by Dainsleif as capable of extreme detachment from her followers. Under her command, the Fatui emerge as a formidable military faction, with the Eleven Harbingers steering operations. This nation boasts advanced technology and unparalleled military might across Teyvat.
Snezhnaya, blanketed in relentless winter storms, mirrors a Soviet Union aura. Childe forewarns that humans must keep moving or be claimed by the freezing wilderness. Completing the final chapter on Snezhnaya feels justified due to the Fatui’s antagonistic pinions in the Genshin saga.
Before Sumeru hit the stage, a trailer lifted the curtain on some shadowed Harbingers. La Signora’s demise during Inazuma’s tale left the remaining Harbingers convening for her memorial. Fresh details scattered throughout suggest a concealed Harbinger #10, metaphorically twisting what little we understand about these enigmatic leaders.
Here’s the current standing on the Harbingers:
Rank | Name | Codename | Status |
---|---|---|---|
0 | Pierro | The Jester | Active |
1 | Il Capitano | The Captain | Deceased; life mingled with Yohualtecuhtin |
2 | Il Dottore | The Doctor | Active in Nod-Krai |
3 | Columbina | Damselette | Active |
4 | Arlecchino | The Knave | Active |
5 | Pulcinella | The Rooster | Active |
6 | – | – | Vacant post-Scaramouche’s departure |
7 | Sandrone | Marionette | Active |
8 | – | – | Vacant post-La Signora’s exit |
9 | Pantalone | Regrator | Active |
10 | unknown | unknown | unknown |
11 | Tartaglia | Childe | Recuperating post All-Devouring Narwhal |
Tsaritsa’s uneasy pivot from benevolence to cosmic conquest nudges the Fatui to seize five Gnoses, including Venti’s, Zhongli’s, Raiden’s, and Nahida’s, alongside their own Hydro source, leaving only one beyond their grasp: the Pyro Gnosis.
Additionally, she embeds within Delusions that are like Visions but erode users’ life essence. Many elite members, including the Harbingers, carry these burdens.
Tsaritsa’s exact motives are cloaked in speculation, often drifting toward notions of "love." Yet, this so-called "love" pulls sharp contradictions. As Zhongli ambiguously alludes, the Tsaritsa, not being an original Archon, may not have her ideals cemented in eternity but evolving through history and chaos.
Tartaglia views her as a paradox:
"Her Royal Highness the Tsaritsa is actually a gentle soul. Too gentle, in fact, and that’s why she had to harden herself. Likewise, she declared war against the whole world only because she dreams of peace. And because she made an enemy of the world, I had the chance to become acquainted with you."
Dainsleif paints a sinister picture:
"She is a god with no love left for her people, nor do they have any left for her. Her followers hope only to be on her side when the day of her rebellion against the divine comes at last."
Meanwhile, ascension gems carry cryptic messages from their patron Archon. The Cryo-themed Shivada Jade Gemstone whispers:
Sorry… to also have you shoulder the grievances of the world.
Since you could endure my bitter cold, you must have the desire to burn?
Then, burn away the old world for me.
Details about Snezhnaya depict it enveloped in blizzards lasting a month, with its people gazing skyward, celebrating life amidst adversity. Meanwhile, Snezhnaya boasts sprawling factories and military dominance, yet maintains cultural tradition like its famed Krsnik Noc festival. Players also learn of the Adventurers’ Guild’s origin in Snezhnaya, its reverence overshadowing Fatui aim.
The seat of authority, Zapolyarny Palace, houses the Tsaritsa’s rule ceremonially recognized in the Mondstadt Archon Quest.
Potential Other Regions
Beyond the established framework of Teyvat, theorists speculate about future expanses, though confirmations are far from realized.
Khaenri’ah
Introducing Khaenri’ah, a land steeped in lore. It’s the backdrop central to the twins’ narrative arrival. Five hundred years ago, its civilization crumbled amidst the Cataclysm. The seven Archons and Celestia wrought its transformation, converting its people into today’s Abyss Order monstrosities.
Among its remnants roam survivors like Dainsleif and descendants like Kaeya. Their existence paints the entwined fates crossing history to modern Teyvat. The destination of Chapter ??: The Dream Yet To Be Dreamed promised in whispers; how much of Khaenri’ah lies in wait? That remains the mystery’s allure.
Celestia
Celestia drifts above, enshrouded in intrigue and ethereal power central to Teyvat’s unfolding saga. Home to divine entities, it fulfills roles of judge and executor over the Archons and their realms.
Relations between Celestia and its Archons are delicately poised. Venti and Zhongli keep their comments cryptic. Raiden Ei’s rejection of ties adds new depth to their story. Machinations of Celestia extend into conflict, enabling Focalors’ betrayal, etching shadows on the past centuries.
Destruction, led by Celestia during Khaenri’ah’s fall, birthed much Teyvat’s convoluted history. Ties found in Gnoses control Archon’s power utmost, though, many have surrendered theirs, unbothered by the divine oversight.
The entity ruling Celestia, known as the "Heavenly Principles," steers Teyvat’s grand narrative, meandering from the entity known only as the "Sustainer of Heavenly Principles." Many see Celestia’s floating island as the place engraved in Genshin’s loading scenes, suggested sinisterly in the game’s opening battle between Traveler and Sustainer.
Concluding Thoughts
The landscapes of Teyvat continue to stretch widely with stories yet uncarved. As Genshin Impact evolves, these mystical elements become the magnetic pull for players to explore, unearth Teyvat’s many secrets, and await the thrilling anticipation of the adventure that beckons them onward.
