Warner Bros, a major name in entertainment, has reportedly decided to pull the plug on an expansion for Hogwarts Legacy.
According to Bloomberg, there was a planned expansion in the works that was supposed to be launched alongside a Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter-themed action RPG. This edition was anticipated to introduce fresh storylines to the avid fan base.
The decision to halt this expansion seems to stem from the fact that the content on offer wouldn’t really justify the price tag that was being considered. The expansion was in development by Avalanche Software, the original creators of Hogwarts Legacy, with a helping hand from Rocksteady. Interestingly, Avalanche is also rumored to be working on a sequel to the successful Harry Potter game.
Meanwhile, Rocksteady recently faced some challenges, including layoffs, as they revealed plans to wrap up support for the 2024 title Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
In the broader picture, Warner Bros had previously acknowledged that their gaming sector wasn’t exactly hitting the mark financially, labeling it as “substantially underperforming.” This came during a tough period last year when the company had to write off an astounding $200 million due to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Additionally, Warner Bros closed down three studios, including Monolith, and saw the exit of their long-serving chief, David Haddad.
