Sea of Thieves has teamed up with Destiny 2 to bring a fresh array of cosmetics inspired by Bungie’s iconic game. The buzz about a crossover between the two games had been stirring for a while, and now, with the official announcement, it’s clear that the collaboration has been brewing since 2023.
Since its debut by Bungie in 2017, Destiny 2 has whisked players away to a thrilling sci-fi universe filled with intense battles and unforgettable characters like Cayde-6. As Guardians, players are tasked with defending the Last City against looming threats. On the other hand, Rare released Sea of Thieves in 2018, inviting players to embrace the pirate life, explore vast oceans, hunt for treasure, and face formidable sea creatures like the Megalodon and Kraken.
The newest addition to Sea of Thieves is this much-talked-about crossover, bringing in cosmetics heavily inspired by Destiny 2. Gamers can dive into the Lightbearer Ship Bundle, which boasts a collector’s figurehead, sails, hull, and flag reminiscent of Ghost, Destiny 2’s robotic sidekick. There are also three themed bundles: Mighty, Silent, and Wise, each aligning with the Titan, Hunter, and Warlock classes from Destiny 2. For those eager to go all in, the Lightbearer Big Bundle offers a complete package, encompassing items from the aforementioned bundles.
Players have the opportunity to uniquely tailor their ships by purchasing standalone figureheads and sails from the Mighty, Silent, and Wise sets. These pieces come adorned with the iconic lion, snake, and eagle symbolism representing Destiny 2’s classes. Furthermore, the distinctive sails, bursting with vibrant designs from Bungie’s universe, can also be purchased separately. To enhance character aesthetics, players can opt for the Lightbearer costume set, which features a striking blue coat ensemble with red accents, a green shirt, and bold shoulder pads. Meanwhile, the Lightbearer weapon bundle equips players with reimagined versions of Destiny 2’s legendary guns, such as the Lord of Wolves and Ace of Spades.
Beyond this crossover, there’s plenty more in store for both Sea of Thieves and Destiny 2. As Sea of Thieves ventured into its 15th season on February 20, players have encountered new weapons, mechanics, and the notorious Megalodons, Redmaw, and Barnacled Dread. Concurrently, Destiny 2 is in the throes of the Guardians Games and is wrapping up Act 2 Heresy, with Act 3 set to kick off soon.
Both games continue to offer thrilling content and events that keep their communities engaged and coming back for more adventures.
