Last Thursday, the demand for Bigscreen Beyond 2 headsets took off with incredible speed. The company behind the PC VR headset quickly noted that sales for its latest, lightweight model surpassed those of its predecessor within just 24 hours. Remarkably, the opening day saw sales equal to six months of Beyond 1 figures.
Bigscreen’s launch of Beyond 2 revealed some staggering numbers. Within just 25 minutes, Beyond 2 had already surpassed the initial day sales of the Beyond 1. By the end of the first hour, sales had doubled those from the previous model’s launch day. Astonishingly, within 10 hours, Beyond 2 had sold more units than Beyond 1 had in its first four months on the market.
On Friday, Bigscreen’s founder and CEO, Darshan Shankar, shared perhaps the most impressive statistic yet. In an X post, he stated, “In the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 has sold 10 TIMES what Beyond 1 sold on its launch day 2 years ago. In the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 has sold as much as Beyond 1 did in its first 6 months of sales. That’s exceptional.”
Significantly, Shankar highlighted that this success was achieved without any advertising expenditure. “We didn’t pay influencers to pump our product. We didn’t pay an agency for an expensive video. No advertising,” he noted.
While the company didn’t invest in advertising, they did send about a dozen early units of Beyond 2 to selected reviewers, including names like Tested, Thrillseeker, MRTV, and VR Flight Sim Guy.
If you missed it, here are the details: Beyond 2 comes in two versions—one with eye-tracking, the Beyond 2e, and one without, simply called Beyond 2—priced at $1,019 and $1,219 respectively. Though it still features the dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays from the original Beyond, the standout improvements are the larger field-of-view and enhanced clarity, courtesy of a new pancake lens design. This update takes Beyond 2’s diagonal FOV to 116 degrees, up from the original’s 102 degrees, and includes an adjustable IPD mechanism, all packed into a lighter 107g design.
Initially, shipments for the first batches were expected in April for Beyond 2 and May for Beyond 2e. However, as of now, new orders are expected to ship in June.
