XR Games, known for their work on Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded (2024) and Starship Troopers Continuum (2024), has announced an innovative new rhythm game for Quest, aptly named BEATABLE. This game introduces a unique twist by incorporating hand-tracking technology that transforms any ordinary table into your personal musical instrument.
The magic of virtual reality often lies in how well it immerses you into its world, allowing you to physically interact with your environment, which adds another layer of realism. BEATABLE enhances this experience by enabling players to use their tables as musical instruments, letting you tap, snap, and clap along with the beat with just your hands. This concept of “real-world haptics” offers something that traditional controller-based rhythm games simply can’t replicate.
The notable aspect about BEATABLE is its hand-tracking-only gameplay. This focuses on providing quick calibration for accurate hand tracking, essential for hitting the beats perfectly to score big.
Adding to the game’s credibility, VR YouTuber and rhythm game aficionado ‘Naysy’ is collaborating with XR Games, offering her expertise during the development phase. You can even spot her in the game’s promotional trailer.
“I haven’t been this hooked on a rhythm game in quite some time. As a lover of VR rhythm games, I believe BEATABLE puts a fresh spin on the genre,” Naysy commented. “The combination of physical interaction and hand tracking just works seamlessly, creating a fantastically engaging experience. I’m absolutely smitten with this game and can’t wait for others to try it.”
BEATABLE is set to debut in early access on April 10th for Quest 2 and newer models. Excitingly, pre-orders are already available at a 10% discount, making the game just $9.
