Nintendo has openly recognized that launching exclusive games will be “essential” for the success of the Nintendo Switch 2.
These insights came in response to a question from a shareholder who was curious about the continuous release of new games for the current Nintendo Switch even after its successor hits the market.
“Nintendo Switch still has a vibrant player base,” started Shuntaro Furukawa, the president of Nintendo. “For instance, we’ve already announced that Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are on the horizon, set to launch for the Nintendo Switch in 2025. Our goal is to keep delivering engaging games as long as people continue to love this console.”
However, Furukawa was quick to emphasize the importance of exclusive games when introducing new hardware. “While we’re committed to keeping the spirit of the Switch alive, exclusive titles play a vital role in a new console’s launch. We’re looking at all sorts of ways to make both the current Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 appealing to our audience,” he highlighted.
