Have you spotted a strange glitch in Destiny 2 lately? Don’t fret, as Bungie has decided not to fix it intentionally.
In the realm of gaming, what sets it apart from other media is undoubtedly the presence of bugs and glitches. Perhaps the closest parallel you might find is in live theater, where mishaps can occur, but it’s quite a different scenario when it comes to video games. Occasionally, these little quirks are embraced by developers. For instance, in the game Celeste, players stumbled upon pixel-wide gaps in spike-covered walls that they could dash through. The developers liked this so much that they added a special animation to signal when you nailed the trick. Pretty cool, right? Bungie’s approach with the latest Destiny 2 bug isn’t as elaborate, but they’re still opting to keep it.
Following the launch of the Heresy expansion, some players realized that three exotic glaive weapons—Edge of Intent, Edge of Concurrence, and Edge of Action—previously locked to certain classes, could now be used universally. Last week, Bungie shared in a blog post that they have seen the community really enjoy this newfound flexibility.
Initially, Bungie felt inclined to fix this oversight, as they value the distinct class identities within Destiny. Watching a Warlock deploy a mini-bubble or witnessing a Titan dashing around like a ninja felt a bit jarring, they admitted. However, after some internal discussions, they decided to embrace this mix-up, effectively turning the bug into a feature everyone can enjoy.
Bungie did mention, though, that you might encounter some awkward animations, as these combinations weren’t originally intended. They also noted that these class-agnostic glaives provide unique buildcrafting opportunities. They’ll be monitoring how these weapons perform across all classes going forward.
It’s important to note, as Bungie clarified, that not every quirky bug will be allowed to stay. They found this particular one fitting and let it slide, so hold off from getting your hopes up that every odd glitch will become a permanent fixture in the future (even if you secretly wish they would).
