Hello! I’m Oli, and I’m the game director over at Kaizen Game Works, the team behind Paradise Killer. I’m super excited to share that the demo for our latest project, an open-world mascot management crime drama called Promise Mascot Agency, is now available to play on the PS5!
Creating this game has been a journey, and we’re all thrilled for PlayStation users to finally experience it. Let me just say, the PS5 is phenomenal. As a team, we’re all huge fans of PlayStation. In fact, we’ve grown up gaming on every PlayStation console from the start, and I happen to collect games from both the PlayStation and PS2 eras. These classic games had a direct hand in shaping the design of Promise Mascot Agency.
I’m a big fan of those PS2 games where you simply hang out and get involved in different activities. Have you tried Way of the Samurai, Raw Danger, Boku No Natsuyasumi, or Steambot Chronicles? If not, I highly recommend them! They let you kick back, meet fascinating characters, make impactful choices, and wander at your own pace. That’s exactly the kind of immersive world we aimed to create—full of mysteries, eccentric personalities, secrets, and engaging gameplay rich with vibes.
In Promise Mascot Agency, you’ll step into the shoes of Michi, an exiled yakuza lieutenant, teaming up with a mischievous creature named Pinky. Your mission is to rescue a floundering mascot agency and untangle the underworld plot that banished Michi to a cursed coastal town in Japan. Here, mascots aren’t just figures—they’re living, breathing entities. Kaso-Machi, the setting, is a refuge for society’s outsiders, and Michi will need to unite a ragtag group of mascots to revive the business and safeguard his family ties to the yakuza.
Kaso-Machi is a town that’s thrumming under a dark, supernatural curse. Spirits and gods call the central mountain their playground, while the town’s folklore is steeped in the supernatural. Michi embarks on solving eerie mysteries like ghost sightings, runaway talismans, and the legendary Tsuchinoko. Yet, a formidable challenge lies ahead as the town’s curse slowly erodes any yakuza who dare visit. Can Michi rescue the agency and unravel the conspiracy before the curse seals his fate?
We kicked off this project four years back, teaming up with talents like Ikumi Nakamura and Mai Mattori to craft this vivid world and its inhabitants. Our fusion with Nakamura-san has given birth to a game that’s unique, full of quirkiness and nostalgia. While we’re a western team, we’ve worked side by side with Japanese artists, musicians, and creatives to breathe authenticity into our game. We often let our collaborators steer the creative ship, which has infused the game with diverse influences and personal stories.
Recently, we’ve lifted the curtain on our voice cast, featuring Takaya Kuroda of Kiryu Kazuma fame as Michi’s voice. We hadn’t planned on voice acting being part of this journey—and certainly didn’t expect Kuroda-san to just stroll into an audition! Ayano Shibuya voices Pinky, creating a dynamic duo with Michi. Our game boasts a fantastic voice cast, including Shuhei Yoshida and SWERY’s debut voice performances.
We’re a small but passionate team, and it’s taken everything we’ve got to craft this sprawling, eccentric 20-hour open world RPG. We’re thrilled to finally share it with you and hope you enjoy every moment of the demo—especially taking advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptics, adaptive triggers, and speaker features on PS5. Stay tuned for more details about the full release soon. Now, go on, dive into the world of Promise Mascot Agency, keep those promises, and chase those dreams!
Don’t wait—download the demo from the PlayStation Store today!
