Stepping into the shoes of two unpublished authors, Mio and Zoe, you’ll quickly discover they couldn’t be more different. The story picks up with these two protagonists as they’re enticed into Rader Publishing Headquarters by the allure of a potential publishing deal, one that spirals into chaos, trapping them within a simulation of their own tales. Your mission? Help them break free. Let’s delve into their characters, giving you a clear perspective on your preferred choice when you finally play the game.

Mio Hudson – Science Fiction Aficionado

Mio is as reserved as she is decisive. A realist by nature and a thorough introvert, she spent her upbringing in the bustling city with her father. Mio’s foray into writing isn’t about the glory or the fame; it’s purely a means to earn a living. Her passion for sci-fi breathes life into her stories that take readers through neon-drenched cyberpunk landscapes, advanced warfare zones, and the vastness of space. In the simulation, watch her transformation as she morphs into a gravity-defying ninja, wields cutting-edge energy blades, or commands drones clad in state-of-the-art exosuits.

Zoe Foster – Fantasy Enthusiast

Meet Zoe, the vibrant and charismatic optimist who wears her heart on her sleeve. An extrovert hailing from the countryside, she yearns to prove her worth to her family, convinced that a publishing deal is the ticket to resolving her woes. Zoe’s fantasy tales transport readers into lands threatened by trolls, forests on the brink of an ice age, and epic battles to safeguard the last dragons. In-game, expect Zoe to dazzle as a magical shapeshifter whisking through skies, engage in swordplay from dragon-back, or explore floating islands with her trusty magical kite.

Despite their stark differences, Mio and Zoe need to bridge their worlds, uncovering secrets and leaning on newfound friendship to escape their simulated traps. During The Game Awards announcement in December, director Josef Fares unveiled these characters’ names hold deep personal significance—they’re named after his daughters, Mio and Zoe!

Just like in popular titles like A Way Out and It Takes Two, Hazelight Studios brings back their Friend’s Pass feature. This gem allows one player, who owns the game, to invite a friend to join in online for free! Even better, crossplay is set to be introduced, making it smoother to connect with pals across platforms.

Do note that the Friend’s Pass requires its installation, a steady internet connection, and a platform account. Only one player needs to have the full game for the co-op experience.
