February 2025 isn’t shaping up to be a blockbuster month for video game releases, especially with some titles already getting pushed back. However, one intriguing addition is making its debut—Keep Driving. This driving RPG has you battling in a turn-based style as you gather resources along your journey.
If you haven’t heard about this delightfully quirky game, let me fill you in. I had the chance to try it out during last year’s Steam Next Fest, where an unfortunate encounter with a puddle took me out just once. The game is essentially a road trip adventure to a friend’s place, but it challenges both you and your car to navigate typical driving hazards, while also dealing with all the human necessities like food and rest along the way.
Exciting news: the complete version of Keep Driving is slated for a February 6 release on Steam for PC, as announced with enthusiasm by Swedish developer YCJY Games in a tweet.
The fresh trailer brings a taste of the turn-based car combats against tractors, flocks of sheep, and those nemesis potholes. It also teases a selection of new cars, which can be loaded with essential items for you, your vehicle, and any hitchhikers eager to join the ride. I have to admit, while I enjoyed the demo’s not-quite-Volvo, the allure of driving a pickup truck stirs the country fan in me, my inner Johnny Cash longing for the open road.
For now, Keep Driving is exclusive to PC, but a reply from the devs hints at potential console versions. They’re still figuring it out but suggest a Switch release is on the cards. Maybe we’ll even see a PS2 port, making it easy to switch between this and a classic like Need For Speed Underground.
Until then, I’m eager to see if the full version of Keep Driving can amp up the vibes that captivated me in the demo.
