Winking Studios, a prominent name in the Asian triple-A outsourcing scene, has just announced its acquisition of China’s Mineloader. This hefty deal is valued at around £16.3 million, translating to $19.87 million, with an immediate payment of $14.7 million, while the rest will be handed over over the next five years, contingent on Mineloader meeting specific performance goals.
Founded back in 2003, Mineloader has carved out a niche for itself as a specialist in art outsourcing. Reflecting on this strategic move, Johnny Jan, the CEO and founder of Winking Studios, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “This is the most significant acquisition we’ve made to date. It significantly strengthens our footing in the global video game sector and opens up exciting avenues for growth and innovation.”
Jan continued by highlighting the importance of game art in the development process. “Game art lays the visual and creative groundwork that pulls players into the gaming universe. Mineloader’s team, comprising over 460 skilled professionals, will be a tremendous asset as they join our group of more than 800 employees. This acquisition enhances our offerings in this domain and broadens our client base. Moreover, Mineloader’s well-established reputation in the Japanese market offers substantial value to our business networks,” he added.
