At CES 2025, Shiftall, the innovative Japanese company known for their MeganeX PC VR headsets, introduced two exciting VR controller accessories. They unveiled a SteamVR-compatible controller designed for PC VR systems and a novel add-on for Quest Touch controllers, which includes a scroll wheel and extra buttons for enhanced user interaction.
### GripVR
Shiftall is launching its own standard PC VR controller, aptly named GripVR. Tailored for SteamVR Tracking systems (versions 1.0 and 2.0), this controller maintains a classic button configuration. It features AB/XY input buttons, pressable joysticks, triggers, and grips, all equipped with capacitive touch sensors to ensure seamless interaction.
Users can expect up to eight hours of battery life from the GripVR, with recharging facilitated through a USB Type-C port. Being a SteamVR-compatible accessory, it seamlessly integrates with various headsets, including Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Shiftall’s own ultra-light “8K” MeganeX headset.
As for when you can get your hands on one, the GripVR is anticipated to hit the market this summer, with a price range between $299 and $399.
### AddCon
Another exciting reveal from Shiftall is AddCon, a distinctive aftermarket attachment for the left-hand Touch controllers of Quest 3/3S/Pro. This gadget enriches the controller’s functionality by adding a wheel and buttons, likely making it more user-friendly for 2D interfaces and VRChat-specific controls.
The AddCon sports a shift capability, activated via an embedded capacitive sensor located on the pinky rest, allowing users to switch between different command sets effortlessly.
Designed for VR enthusiasts who appreciate extra control capabilities, AddCon targets users aiming to tweak camera settings or handle avatar functions within VRChat. It supports more than 14 assignable inputs and can be customized through a dedicated PC app. This app doubles as an OSC command transmission tool, enhancing VRChat experiences when used on standalone setups.
Connecting via Bluetooth LE or GX6/GX2 dongle to Quest devices, AddCon also features USB Type-C charging. Similar to GripVR, AddCon aims for a summer 2025 release and is priced at $69 for the left-hand Touch accessory.
This development comes on the heels of last year’s announcement of Shiftall’s MeganeX superlight “8K” PC VR headset, which is set for early 2025 shipping at $1,899. This latest MeganeX offers a sleek, lightweight build with dual 4K high-resolution OLED panels.
It’s important to note that the “8K” in MeganeX superlight “8K” is somewhat of a marketing label rather than an exact specification, as the device features dual 3,552 × 3,840 OLED displays.
