It looks like a new trailer for Borderlands 4 is in the pipeline, even though we really weren’t supposed to catch wind of it just yet.
Everyone has a slip-up now and then, but you’d imagine a company CEO might tread a bit more carefully. Yet, Randy Pitchford, head honcho at Gearbox, isn’t one to shy away from being himself, which might be why he let the cat out of the bag about the upcoming Borderlands 4 trailer. In a candid moment on Twitter, Pitchford declared, “Cooking up a new Borderlands 4 trailer and it’s badass af.” Not one to hold back, he added, “I’m not supposed to talk about it yet, but idgaf. I’M FREAKING OUT, yo.” When someone nudged him for a sneak peek, he cheekily replied with a GIF from the original teaser’s end and teased, “First frames of trailer are last frames of teaser. Yes, I’m a troll and a tease. Deal with it.”
Contrary to what Pitchford himself admitted, he wasn’t meant to spill the beans on the trailer’s existence. His reasons for doing so? Your guess is as good as mine! He did acknowledge, though, that he didn’t intend to undermine the efforts of the publishing and communications team, conceding that his antics might disrupt their well-laid plans. Presumably, the reality of his blunder only hit him after he’d tweeted. And if you’re a Gearbox employee, it might mean reminding the boss of discretion!
In a subsequent expression of his predicament, Pitchford tweeted, “So… my phone is blowing up. I guess I wasn’t supposed to share that we have a trailer coming. My bad. Sorry. Not sorry.” He humorously followed up with, “what’s done is done, so… not deleting. If you don’t hear from me in a week, please call 911.” Classic Randy!
With the year nearly wrapping up, the odds are good that we’ll see this trailer soon—possibly at The Game Awards, which are just around the corner, slated for December 12 at 7:30 pm ET. So, keep your eyes peeled!
