Treyarch has tackled a glitch related to the Hit List event in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, where the elimination numbers were capped incorrectly. These eliminations are crucial for players to snag rewards like a Weapon Charm and a Calling Card. While the issue concerned the display, not the counting, Treyarch’s quick fix shows they’re on top of things.
Recently, Treyarch announced they addressed this problem, which had been breaking the event’s elimination count, causing it to cap prematurely. The Hit List event, which kicked off on November 21 and continues until December 4, asks players to rack up kills across Warzone, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes to collect Skulls. These Skulls can then be traded for exclusive rewards, and as a collective, players aim to unlock the community reward: the Sirin 9MM Secondary Weapon, achievable with 50 billion eliminations. Treyarch ensured the eliminations were being accurately tracked, despite the display error.
The community got a heads-up about these discrepancies via CODUpdates on Twitter, noting that the backend was correctly aggregating stats despite the frontend glitch. While eliminations ostensibly hit the 25 billion cap, the underlying system was tracking them properly, ensuring player progress wasn’t affected. The announcement featured insights from a Black Ops 6 Trello board that listed resolved and ongoing issues, including problems like slower-than-intended mantling and melee weapon bugs in custom classes.
Interestingly, Treyarch’s speed in resolving the elimination cap suggests their nimbleness in fixing event-related bugs. Notably, the odd cap did allow the community to surpass 25 billion eliminations, inadvertently unlocking the Hand Cannon Scorestreak. This momentum might just help players unlock every event reward before it concludes.
In the grand scheme, while this display issue was a blip, Treyarch swiftly corrected it without requiring a game update for players. Black Ops 6 continues to receive enhancements, with fixes for other known glitches expected in upcoming patches.
