IO Interactive, the renowned developer of the Hitman series, has officially decided to part ways with mixed martial artist Conor McGregor.
This decision comes on the heels of IO Interactive’s statement on Twitter, which was prompted by the recent legal developments involving McGregor. A court has ruled in favor of a woman who accused the MMA star of rape. Recognizing the weight of this verdict, the studio stated that it “cannot ignore” the case’s significant consequences.
For fans who enjoyed McGregor’s cameo, he made his in-game appearance in the DLC titled “The Disruptor.” However, in response to the court’s decision, IO Interactive has swiftly moved to cut off ties.
In their official communication, they explained, “In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately. We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications.”
Highlighting their commitment to addressing the issue, they added, “Consequently, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our storefronts starting today.”
This decisive action from IO Interactive reflects its firm stance on upholding certain standards within the gaming industry.
