Baldur’s Gate 3 captured the heart of the gaming community in 2023. Garnering numerous Game of the Year accolades, it’s no wonder it left a significant impression on those who played it. However, a few features that fans heavily requested were initially missing. Fortunately, Patch 8 is on the horizon to fill in those gaps.
### What new features are coming with Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8?
Patch 8 is gearing up to make a grand entrance, bringing new life into this beloved RPG. Scheduled for release early next year, this update will introduce cross-play, a photo mode, and a whopping 12 new subclasses. And yes, this update will be available on all platforms, including the PS5.
As highlighted in the latest Baldur’s Gate 3 Community Update, cross-play is set to connect players across different devices. Whether you’re on a PS5, PC, Xbox, or Mac, you’ll now have the chance to link up with fellow gamers. To enable this feature, players need to opt into cross-play and have a Larian Network account ready.
Excitingly, a new photo mode is also being introduced, allowing adventurers to capture their favorite moments during gameplay. With this mode, you can zoom in on specific characters in your team, tweak lens settings, explore different scene settings, apply post-processing effects, and even add frames and stickers for that personal touch. While you can snap away during gameplay and cutscenes, camera and lens settings are fixed during cinematic scenes.
On top of those thrilling new features, Patch 8 brings 12 fresh subclasses, each one adding unique abilities, animations, visual effects, summons, and spells. Here’s a sneak peek at all the new subclasses joining Baldur’s Gate 3:
– Bard – College of Glamour
– Barbarian – Path of Giants
– Cleric – Death Domain
– Druid – Circle of Stars
– Paladin – Oath of the Crown
– Fighter – Arcane Archer
– Monk – Drunken Master
– Ranger – Swarmkeeper
– Rogue – Swashbuckler
– Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
– Warlock – Hexblade
– Wizard – Bladesinging
Larian Studios isn’t stopping there—they’re planning to conduct a stress test for Patch 8. PS5 players who are itching to be part of this early experience can register when the testing window opens in January. Keep an eye out for more details in their upcoming Community Update.
